This is Sowmya, a mum to a 3 year old. I’m writing this article as a reminder in the new-normal side of lifestyle. I did feel lost to the fear tagged literally in every aspect of our life physically, mentally, emotionally and of course materially last year.

All that was required is to stay calm which I learned after experiencing bad to worst months. Wasn’t easy because 2020 was about Anything can happen Anytime!!

So here is my reminder to stay Calm in three steps:

Step 1: Trick my brain to Accept the circumstance. Once it knows that nothing can change or will take time to change the present situation, it will stop cribbing to fight it out or at the most it will slow down.

Step 2: Distract and divert that energy to something or anything that makes you Happy. Sometimes the best comes out when you reroute your worst energy to what makes you happy.

Hang the cape of household race of life and take a break.

Step 3: Do a ‘Happy hour’- where you get to do whatever you really like to do. Hang the cape of household race of life and take a break. Make a painting, do yoga, read a favorite novel, listen to your favorite song or catchup a comedy show (not PBS kids:) along with your favorite snack. Whatever it is should help you relax. Strict rule: Stick to your 60 minutes, no more no less. Team up with your partner so no one bothers you (And don’t forget to do the same for him :)) !!

Stay calm, give a break to bring balance to your emotion and then tinker what comes your way.

So remember to stay calm and breath while life is still on your side.
